Our forum was founded nearly 25 years ago (perhaps longer) when things were not doing as well in the job market, and PhD's had a tough time transitioning into industry. While they still encounter issues in cultural and job search differences, most people find that today's economy (roaring over here in Arizona) leaves them with job opportunities even if they aren't quite what they were hoping to do when they got their PhD.
Can you please help me understand what the issues of today are? What concerns and issues should we be considering at our "core" here on the forum in order to bring the topics up to 2019 standards? We don't want to be beating a dead horse by addressing issues of 2000 if they are no longer present in the marketplace.
In short, if you're a new or relatively new PhD (perhaps in a postdoc) tell us what experiences you've had in this very solid economic time and whether or not the University prepares you well for what you are finding.

It would be interesting to hear directly from our target audience. The questions that I am getting mostly today from younger scientists are mostly about career expectations ans career development. Actually finding positions seems relatively easy.
I agree PG -- it's not as difficult in the days of social media to make yourself visible and get noticed for jobs. (See Dick Woodyard's post from today).
