What surprised me about my first real job?

My first job after the fellowship was, in a lot of ways, very similar to my fellowship. I was still at NIH (I had just completed the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship Program in the Office of the Director). I was still working with a lot of the same people, just from a different office (Office of Extramural Research instead of Office of Research on Women’s Health).
