Building a strong professional network in Biochemistry: A Strategy for the graduate student

In this rapidly evolving field of biochemistry, there can never be over-emphasized importance of strong professional networks. Relations will enable graduate students to identify existing or potential opportunities, gain access to mentors, and collaborate on projects-all of which facilitate academic and professional development. Developing and fostering an effective professional network is not made in a vacuum but rather requires strategic and intentional action. In this paper, strategies useful for graduate students pursuing programs in biochemistry are discussed that aid in the development and strengthening of professional networks.
