The first three months of any job can cause trepidation because it’s like the proverbial black box, especially being in the military. As an Army Microbiologist in a research job, you should have the normal duties of a research scientist such as writing grants and scientific papers, running a laboratory, mentoring technicians, and teaching classes. However, in actuality, you can be faced with anything, including additional duties immediately after arriving at a new job, which is what happened to me.
