Columnist: Kareen Martin, PhD
Kareen Martin, PhD, is an adjunct instructor teaching Biology at West Los Angeles College in Culver City, CA. She previously was a research scientist at the House Ear Institute, an internationally recognized organization in hearing research in Los Angeles, California. Her research focused on the early events involved in inner ear development. She completed her PhD at the University of Manchester, UK, in collaboration with the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research. During her graduate work, she studied the fundamental mechanisms underlying the process of aging, more precisely; age-related changes to mammalian gut epithelial stem cell functions.
