Columnist: Gene Lee, Ph.D.
Gene W. Lee, Ph.D., is a Director at EMD Serono, a global biopharmaceutical company. In his current role, he leads a group that supports the discovery and early pre-clinical development of biotherapeutics. Gene received his B.S. in Biology from Carnegie-Mellon University, and his Ph.D. in Microbiology from New York University. Following a post-doctoral fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Gene jumped feet first into industry, working first at Genetics Institute (later Wyeth BioPharma) where he was involved in manufacturing cell line development and process development, and then later as the Director of Cell Line Generation at Percivia. He joined EMD Serono in 2009. In addition, Gene serves on the Industry Advisory Board at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
