    1. How did you decide to transfer from Academia into your current career path? My interest in biology was always grounded in the belief that it would allow me to make a contribution in the area of treating disease and improving patient outcomes.   I had been fortunate to work in labs headed by physicians as well as scientists, and on projects that had some relevance to the body's innate ability to combat disease, which only sharpened my desire to pursue work that had practical applications.  During my post-doctoral work in Boston, I realized that the work I was doing, while fascinating from a scientific perspective, had limited reach.  I wanted to pursue a career where I could apply the skills and knowledge that I had acquired as a doctoral and post-doctoral student to achieve tangible results, ...
