The New Career Paths page explores the many alternative careers that are available to life science PhDs and MDs. Your choice depends on your passions, personality, and other skills. You may choose to add to your skill set (see Skill Building). A good place to start is the Kiersey Temperament Sorter, which helps you to think about what motivates you at work and what kinds of jobs and roles work well for you. You can then take this information to the Path Categories listed below, which are specially selected because of their match with your science background. Keirsey Temperament Sorter-II
This test requires an investment of time and effort (approx 1 hr), but can be a great help in determining which career steps fit with your personality and interests.Similar to the famous Myers Briggs Type Indicator, this report gives you feedback on what motivates you at work, what roles you're likely to excel in, what kind of workplace would fit your personality, and typical jobs that fit you. Great to share with your career counselor.
