Teaching is one career in which you can actually achieve the work/life balance that you desire. Toward of the end of graduate school and right into my postdoctoral fellowship, I did a lot of soul searching. There were many surprises in the preceding years, to say the least, and it was time for me to do a self-revaluation. I came to these three major conclusions: 1) my life is in a very different place now compared to when started graduate school (believe it or not, this can come as a shock to many), 2) my family is at the top of my priority list, period, and 3) my passion lies in teaching science and this is what will ultimately make me happy.
