    I am one of those persons that at a very young age knew that I have a passion for science, and wanted to dedicate my life to a profession involving scientific research. Here, I will give you my advice to optimize your chances of being successful in academia or, if you are a person that is not so sure, how to decide whether the academic path is good for you or not. I believe that it is important to start doing research when you are an undergraduate student.  I would suggest not waiting until you are a senior as starting early will give you the chance to complete your own research project and be a co-author in a publication.
